When we came across the cubby houses created Castle and Cubby, we fell in love with the idea of a beach shack shoot, and our Lost Desert collection fit the Coco Beach vibe perfectly.

We set out to find a beautiful beach location, somewhere that was easily accessible so we could transport our Coco Beach cubby house down onto the sand. Lined with Pandanus trees and facing east for a dreamy sunrise, we knew we had found our location in Belongil Beach, Byron Bay.
Our stylist, Kirby, set about collecting props that fit the mood board. We wanted to create the ultimate Coco Beach vibe, a whole bunch of free spirited kids living ‘castaway’ style on a deserted island beach. Armed with shells, coconuts, pineapples, bananas, our new Children of the Tribe dinner set (filled with a luscious bowl of goodness by Combi Byron Bay), ‘Weekender’ rattan chairs from Byron Bay Hanging Chairs and a ‘Kids Only’ sign, we set about creating the scene in the early dawn hours.
The morning of the shoot, the kids arrived in the first hour of sunlight; it was a beautiful spring morning in Byron with hardly a soul on the beach and the November sun was already blazing by 7am. With so many kids playing in the shack and on on the beach, photographer Carly Brown captured so many moments of kids completely immersed in imaginative play down at Coco Beach.
