As a mother of two, Children of the Tribe’s Emma McClean is passionate about helping to ensure every woman on the planet has a healthy pregnancy and safe, peaceful birth.

That’s why we are throwing our support behind the Bumi Sehat Foundation's community health and childbirth centres in Indonesia. Some of our team recently spent the day in the Bali clinic near Ubud and it was utterly life changing and inspiring.

Founded by midwife, mother of five and “CNN Hero of the Year”, Robin Lim – or Ibu Robin as locals call her - Bumi Sehat's mission is to reduce alarming maternal and child morbidity and mortality and to support the health and development of local communities in Indonesia.

The Bumi Sehat clinics in Bali and Aceh offer free prenatal and postnatal care, birthing services, breastfeeding support, free paediatric clinics and medical aid for so many families who cannot otherwise afford it. When a new mother in poverty needs critical care, Bumi Sehat transports and finds a way to pay for her care. Needless to say, the clinic relies on donations from those who can afford to pay, as well as from donors around the world.

“Every baby's first breath on Earth could be one of peace and love,” says Robin. “Every mother should be healthy and strong. Every birth could be safe and loving. But our world is not there yet.”

From now on, Children of the Tribe will use our leftover fabric from every collection to make five baby onesies and a baby wrap for every mother leaving the Bumi Sehat clinic with their new bundle of joy.

We call on other brands that manufacture in Indonesia to contact us at info@childrenofthetribe.com and donate their offset fabric and we will happily make the clothing to give to Bumi Sehat’s patients.

If anyone else in our Children of the Tribe community would like to help this important charity, click on this link to find out how you can get involved http://www.bumisehatfoundation.org/get-involved/

"Today on our Earth, 981 mothers in the prime of their life will die - and tomorrow again and yesterday," says Robin. "We don't even know how many babies are lost, but all of us can help change that."
