We are all a little homewares and furniture obsessed here at Children of the Tribe so we jumped at the chance to check out Hendrix & Harlow’s new store in the hinterland town of Bangalow. We chatted to founder and interior stylist Myee Harlow about her new space, the birth of Hendrix & Harlow and her personal style.
Congratulations on your new store! It’s gorgeous. What prompted you to open this space?
Divine timing! This space wasn't planned; it came up by chance so we jumped at it. Our Byron store has a completely different open plan, warehouse/loft style so the opportunity to be able to show our ranges in two completely different settings is exciting. When planning the makeover of this new store, we knew we wanted to retain the character of the original cottage but open it up and create a clean minimal interior.
You're an artist and interior stylist. Can you tell us how Hendrix & Harlow came about?
My husband Mark and I have been designing and creating for as long as we both can remember; it’s in our DNA and it’s who we are as people. In 2015, we combined our skills to create the Hendrix & Harlow brand. Mark is definitely the hard-living rock and roll half in our relationship so Hendrix fits perfectly and my surname is Harlow, so it really didn’t take much effort to arrive at the current name.
How would you sum up your personal style?
Relaxed, minimalist with global influences.
Where do you draw your inspiration?
I am definitely most inspired by nature.
Dream holiday destination?
At the moment I am dreaming of revisiting the Greek Islands with my family.
Three little luxuries you couldn't live without?
Chai, coconut oil and the beach!
