The Paradise Co.  for  Children of the Tribe

Lucky us! For our new Limited Edition Gift Packs, we have teamed up with Mark Townshend the owner and creative behind Australian’s premier ‘goods for life’ printed art- The Paradise Co.

Mark is a creative through and through who has art directed, photographed, videoed, branded and designed for Australia’s leading companies. We were thrilled when he humbly agreed to create a bespoke hand screen-printed limited edition artwork for our soon to be released limited edition gift pack.

Here’s his story…

Us – What is your professional background and how did The Paradise Co. come about?

Mark – As an Art Director, I spend 8 hours a day (more like 15) crafting an ad or piece of communication for a range of different clients. It can be a challenge to express my own style and I really want to be my own client. I’ve always liked the idea of having a creative outlet and that is how The Paradise Co. came about. Our philosophy around what we do is all based around giving people artwork with meaning at a reasonable price. We don’t wholesale, so we are able to keep our prices as low as possible without compromising on quality.

Us – What’s it like being a working Dad and do you have any ideal vision of what your work-life balance will be in the future?

Mark – As a father to three beautiful children Ryder (4), Jet (2) and Willow (4 months), work/life balance can be a bit tricky. First and foremost is family but I try to set aside some time every week to focus on personal projects. I’m lucky enough to be married to what can only be described as the most understanding, talented, gorgeous wife Sarah who makes all of our lives that much easier and supports us all unconditionally.

Us –  What is life like on Sydney’s Northern beaches for work and families?

Mark – Originally from new Zealand we ended up in Avalon 3 years ago. It’s heaven. I never want to leave. The people, he scenery and the community spirit is second to none. A typical day in the life of my children goes something like this: Wake up to views of Pittwater, decide on which of the dozen or so local beaches they’d like to visit, stumble down to the village for a quick milkshake, then hit the beach for a few hours. Lunch, sleep and repeat in the afternoon. Oh how I envy them!

Us- Can you describe your art to us in simple terms?

Mark – All of the artwork on The Paradise Co. is a combination of my photography and typography. We are always looking at offering variety and I love working with different materials and techniques – which will come to life more in our next collection. We try to keep our style as effortless as possible and have a strong love for nature and being outdoors.

Us – Are there any exciting new art pieces to come?

Mark – We are always looking to the future and although we’ve only been around a short while we have big plans. We will be releasing at least one more collection in 2015 along with limited edition screen prints throughout.

Thank you so much Mark & family for lending your time and creative talent.

xx
